Insect Pinning Workshop

Cost: $21 (Includes RAM Admission and all materials)
Age: 12 and up*

Take a walk through any natural history museum and you’ll likely find yourself marveling at a wide diversity of specimens, from bugs to birds to reptiles and beyond. Ever wondered how museum professionals prep and care for these specimens?

Join us on Halloween (October 31) for our Insect Pinning workshop and try your hand at prepping and pinning an insect specimen! Learn first-hand from museum professionals about how and why natural collections prep and preserve animals for display and research.

This workshop is open to anyone aged 12+, with no previous experience necessary. *Participants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Each participant will receive one insect to pin and a shadow box to display it in.

Please note: This activity will require working with real animal parts and the biohazards associated.
